MEET OUR INSTRUCTORSOur Teachers Make Music Classes FunSophie joined the JK family in the Fall of 2011. She is a piano, violin, and wind instructor who specializes in the saxophone, flute & clarinet. Sophie is originally from England in the U.K., she also lived briefly in the Netherlands and speaks both French & Italian. She has a degree in Music & Performance from Trinity College in London. Sophie previously taught music at a variety of schools & camps on both sides of the pond and also has experience working with Autistic students. She also worked in the Music & Liturgy office of St. Paul's Cathedral in London. Margareth has been our longest serving instructor since 2003. She is the Piano Music Teacher in Weston. Margareth teaches beginner piano and is also one of our Little Mozart instructors. Originally from Brazil, she is trilingual (speaking English, Portuguese & Spanish) and studied at the San Paulo Conservatore with a degree in music & piano. Gerald has been our longest serving guitar instructor since 2006. He is the Guitar Music Teacher in Weston. Gerald teaches acoustic, electric, bass & classical guitar classes. He is originally from Cuba and is completely bi-lingual in English & Spanish. Gerald studied at Miami-Dade College with a specialty in sound engineering & recording. He is also a professional musician with a musical focus on Blues & Funk.
Yadelia has been a piano instructor for over 15 years and has been with Jammin Kids since 2007. She is Weston Piano Music Teacher affiliated with the National Piano Guild. Originally from Cuba, Yadelia studied piano at the National School of Arts in Havana. She is also our Little Mozarts group and private lesson instructor. Yadelia also teaches music to various home school organizations in South Florida Jaffird has been one of our piano & voice instructors since 2007. She is originally from Colombia with a Piano & Music Pedagogy from the Conservatory Music School Antonio Maria Valencia in Cali. Jaffird also has a BA Degree in Art, majoring in music & specializing as a Professional Singer (soprano) from the University of Valle, Cali. She also has a Masters in Exceptional Student Education (K-12) from Nova SoutheasternUniversity and works with our special needs students. Danny has also been one of our voice and piano instructors since 2008. He enjoys music from contemporary to Broadway to Classical. Danny is a Florida native and has a degree in music from Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is also our store & web manager. In addition to working at Jammin Kids, Danny is a partner in a Web Design firm called Gladius Entertainment. Matt has been a guitar instructor at Jammin' Kids since 2009. He is originally from Connecticut and has a degree from Berklee School of Music in Boston. Matt is also one of our Garage Band instructors and serves as an Assistant Manager. He performs as a professional musician with Alex & Danny in Keyey (A Latin Jazz Ensemble). Nestor is a tenor lyrical singer and has been a Jammin' Kids vocal instructor since 2009. Originally from Venezuela, he attended the Conservatorio de Musica Jose L. Paz. Nestor also studied Opera Production & Vocal Pedagogy at Indiana University. He also earned an Opera Performers Diploma at Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Nestor current serves as the director of the Spanish Folk Choir at St. Bonaventure Church. He is also a vocal judge for Stage Masters music competitions. Alex has been an instructor at Jammin' Kids since 2010. He teaches woodwind & brass instruments specializing in flute, clarinet, & saxophone. Alex is originally from Puerto Rico with a degree from the Conservatory of Music in San Juan and is fluent in Spanish. There, he was also the director of a non-profit organization offering a music inclusion program for special needs students. Alex is a former middle school band director & elementary school music instructor. Alex also performs professionally with the Adam David band and the jazz quartet Transit. Adam has been a guitar instructor at Jammin' Kids since 2010. He is originally from South Florida, attends Miami-Dade College where he studies music. Adam is also the founder of the Adam David Band. He is originally from Atlanta, Ga., attended Miami-Dade College, has an Associates Degree in Music from Broward College and currently attends Florida Atlantic University where he is studying Jazz Performance as well as Music Business. Joe is also a professional bassist, sound engineer, producer & musical director. He currently performs with the Jazz Fusion group Modernity, and the Colombian Rock group LaDoFaSil. Joe is also a member of the International Society of Bassists. He was also a percussion instructor with the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Band Department. Jeff then studied at Broward College, the University of Central Florida and is currently pursuing his masters degree at Florida Atlantic University. He is certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language(TEFL), and has taught in South Korea, Spain, and the United States. Lauren has been a violin, viola and cello instructor since 2010. She is originally from South Florida and has 6 year of experience playing the violin and 4 years experience playing the cello. Lauren is an AP music theory student with honors experience in violin, orchestra, and chorus. She was a member of the National Youth Choir. Lauren attended the University of Miami summer honors music program. She also previously taught music at the Weston Library and Art Institute of Weston. She has worked professionally with Latin Grammy nominee Alejandra Alberti as well as Dan Reed. Jeannette has been a piano and vocal instructor at Jammin' Kids since 2010. She is originally from Cuba where she began her musical career at age 3, composed her first song at age 4 and comes from a family of 5 generations of musicians. Jeannette attended many musical conservatories, studied classical piano & guitar in Spain as well as jazz piano at the University of Miami. She continues to compose music, tour internationally and has her own local recording studio. Jeannette's performing name is Galaxy Girl and you can check out her website www.GalaxyGirl.tv. Vincent was a violin & viola teacher at Jammin' Kids in 2009, left to pursue school and recently returned to teach with us again. He is originally from Columbia and is fluent in Spanish. Vincent studied at the Conservatorio Antonia Maria Valencia in Cali. He also studied with Thomas Moore of the University of Miami who was also the Concert Master of the Symphony of the Americas. Vincent has performed for many organizations & events, including the Philadelphia Summer Music Festival, Sewanee Summer Music Festival, the Violin Virtuosi Festival of Miami and the FL Youth Orchestra (first violin chair). Pedro has been a guitar instructor at JK since 2011. He has over a decade of experience playing acoustic & electric guitar and previously taught students of all ages at another location for 3 years. Pedro speaks four languages, English, Spanish, Portuguese, & Italian. He is currently studying music at Broward College and also trained there with Delta's Connection Academy to become a FAA trained professional pilot. Pedro previously worked at Broward Arts Camp as a music instructor and continues to perform with his rock band, "Hermetic". John has been a drum instructor at JK since 2011. He is originally from Puerto Rico, is fluent in Spanish and also plays guitar & piano. John recieved a "Bands of America" award for percussion while a student. He previously taught private lessons, has music equipment/PA systems/special events experience and leads & plays with his own performing band. Jackie has been a wind instructor with JK since the summer of 2011. She is originally from New York and began playing the flute in 3rd grade. Jackie is currently pursuing her Masters at FAU in Music History & Literature where she also taught a course in Jazz in American Society. She also served as a graduate assistant in Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Band & Music Librarian at FAU. Jackie also has a BA in Music Performance from the Univ. of Tampa where she served as flute sectional leader for 3 years and director & secretary of Sigma Alpha Iota. She has previously worked as a band camp flute clinician, woodwind clinician, & music teacher. Her area of expertise is flute but she also teaches the piccolo, oboe, saxophone, & piano. Jackie was also a vital player at our summer camp & institute and also developed our Fall band workshop program. Marcee joined the Jammin Kids family in the summer of 2011. She is a violin & viola instructor in our strings department. Her preferred curriculum is the Suzuki method. Marcee is originally from South Florida and previously taught at various other music schools in this area. Marcee is currently studying Music, as well as Reading Education, at FAU. She also studied Music Education at the Univ. of South FL in Tampa. Marcee was the principal violinist with the FAU Symphony Orchestra. Previously she was also the principal violinist with the FL Youth Orchestra. |
