March '12Blog re:  Grand vs. In-House Recitals!

Monthly In-House Recitals:

Jammin Kids International Music Academy invites (put does not require) customers to participate in monthly in-house recitals.  These are normally held on a Saturday or Sunday evening when we are closed to the public.  Each month a different instrument and instructor are featured.  Teachers determine when their students are ready to perform.  Students usually only perform one (or two) songs that they already know quite well.  Students are asked to introduce themselves, as well as the song they are performing and are expected to bow when they are done.  Since space is limited, usually only immediate family attend.  Parents like them because they are free of charge, they get to see their child perform and it is easy to take photos & video.  Students like them because they are a great performance practice opportunity in an informal and supportive environment.   Teachers like them because they can showcase their student's progress as well as that of more advanced students which can be a great motivator for others.  Refreshments are provided after the recital for families and instructors to have an opportunity to mingle.

Black Friday Vs Small Business Saturday

Nov. '11 Blog "Black Fri. vs. Sm. Bus. Sat."

Black Friday 11/25/11:

Black Friday is the day after the Thanksgiving Holiday, which many folks also have off, and is traditionally known as the beginning of the Christmas Holiday shopping season. (Think Thanksgiving Day parade with Santa!) Here are a few things to keep in mind before you do your spending. Big box retailers rarely know their customers. Big Box retailers often don't know their merchandise. Good luck finding parking. They may expand their hours and lower their prices but be prepared to wait in a LONG line to check out!

Little Mozarts, Private Music Lessons & Group Classes | Jammin Kids

"Sept.'11 Blog re: "LM" Group Class vs Private Lessons?!"

Little Mozarts" Group Class:

This is a wonderful introduction to music for toddlers.  It is also a great introduction to the classroom setting when youngsters have to learn to follow directions from an instructor as well as interact with fellow students.  Participants also learn piano, percussion, and singing following along with the CD required for the class.  They learn about high notes from "Mozart Mouse" and low notes from "Beethoven Bear"!  The packet also includes plush toys of these characters.  Students can participate with their moms (or caregivers).  They meet weekly for a 10 week session.  Our Fall class begins the week after Labor Day on Wednesdays at noon and Sundays at 11, when we are closed to the public.  The group class is only $10 per class, plus a $10 registration fee (per family) and the $60 packet of required materials (a $70 value discounted for class participants).
